Why do my cigars change color after being humidified so many years?

I’ve had a bundle of cigars stored in a humidor for years. I just recently noticed that some of them are darker than others. Is that a bad thing?
Over time, subtle differences in wrapper color can become more prevalent through aging. The amount of moisture in the cigars does not affect the wrapper color. If you are using a conventional box humidor with a passive humidification system, humidity levels in the box will vary significantly from top to bottom, which is why it is critical to rotate your cigars on a regular basis. Otherwise, the vitolas at the top will be over-humidified and soft, and the ones at the bottom will be under-humidified and hard.

What is the difference between regular and Cuban cigars?

Why do men like Cuban cigars better and why are they illegal here in the United States?
The US has a trade imbargo with Cuba. Cuban products are illegal in the US. You CANNOT bring even one cigar into the country legally. Please be careful about that. And it’s true that most supposedly cuban cigars in the US are counterfiet and not worth the money (in Mexico too, for that matter). As for why guys like them, well there are a couple reasons. Perhaps for one, just because they are illegal, so it seems a bit naughty. But for the experienced cigar smoker, the truth is in the pudding. Cuban cigars are the best. Specifically the top brands, they are made by cigar rollers whose fathers and grand fathers were cigar rollers. And the tobacco is the best. I have heard that one of the reasons is the high lithium content of the soil in the great tobacco areas of Cuba. So as you smoke, you get a little lithium stoned. I don’t know if that is true, but I think it might be. In any case, the best thing with Cuban cigars, is that they just taste great. Full bodied, but not harsh. Smooth and yet powerful.

What do you say if your girlfriend wants you to quit smoking cigars?

Now, I don’t smoke often. I’d say I smoke about one cigar a month. She doesn’t like it, but I just can’t throw away all of my cigars I’ve had for years (30 count). They’re more than a hobby, they’re a passion. I’m having a hard time convincing her that I don’t get carried away with my cigars and that I always enjoy them for special occasions only. Hell I even have a cigar laid out (aged 9 years) for when we get married. Some help please.

Send her to the curb.

What are a couple of good brands of cigars to try?

Nothing too expensive, just trying to broaden my horizons. Up until now, I’ve mostly smoked ACID cigars, but I know most people will tell me those aren’t "real" cigars.

cohiba
partagas
montecristo
Romeo& Juliet.
Joe de monteroi

all these are prime Cuban cigars, to get more information about differant shapes and more brands you can visit

Cigars and Drinks, what are your experiences?

I recently have tried paring my cigars with alcohol to see if it will enchance the taste and pleasure of a good cigar. Needless to say my palate is not that qeen yet, but just yesterday i paired a Camacho Negro with a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and it was nothing short of delicious. The Camacho is noted with cherry flavor and woody and the Sam just enhanced it. Though I tried a red ale with it as well and it was horriable…..What have you tried or what do you like with a cigar? What kind of drink and cigar?

I smoke a variety of hand rolled cigars such as Diamond Crown, Opus X, CAO’s, Partagas, etc…

My preferred drinks with a cigar:
Cognac
Single Malt Scotch
Port Wine or Sherry
New Castle or Guiness
Michelob
Dr Pepper
Coffee

You just have to keep at it until you find the combination that works for you. With that in mind, you can have a full bodied cigar with a certain beer and it might not work and vice a versa.

The list of drink I provided above are situational based upon where I am located.

How much would a pack of swisher sweet little cigars run me?

How much would a pack of swisher sweet little cigars run me, approximately. Ya know, the ones that kinda look like cigarettes?
A 20 pack of them, by the way.

How do I tell the difference between real Cuban cigars and fakes?

Cohiba cigars are my brand and I intend to visit Cuba in Oct. I want to stock up on thes beauties but don’t want to get burned and I don’t want to pay the tourist prices.

Hey Joe,

They easiest way to tell is by touch.
Real cohibas will be slightly ’spongy’ – that’s the only word i can think of to describe them.
It’s the way they are rolled that gives them that beautiful texture and taste.

And be careful where you buy them, check the humidors and the ranges they stock. These can be a massive giveaway to dodgy smokes.

Enjoy. x x x
